The Kachin people group in Northern Myanmar have become the key focus for us to support as a church. There is so much need in this region and it is our intention to strengthen links with the main aid organization in that area, the Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC), so that together we can bring a better future both spiritually and physically to the Kachin people. Our main focus is with the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s) that have come from the war in that region. The 17 year old cease fire between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the Myanmar Army was broken on 9 June 2011. Since then it is estimated that over 100,000 men, women and children have fled their villages in search of safety. The KBC are one of the leading groups who have helped settle people in IDP camps throughout Kachin State and Shan State in the north of Myanmar.
We are committed to supporting our displaced brothers and sisters in two IDP camps in northern Shan State. Money provided by Kruger has been used to provide food supplements and school materials to the children in these camps and we will continue to provide support where it is most needed into the future.
