Kruger Mission

A Heart for our Nation and World

God loves and cares for people, all around the world and Kruger Mission focuses on supporting those who live inside and outside of our local area through financial and prayer support.  Our primary focus is towards developing a strong relationship with the Kachin people in Northern Myanmar (formerly Burma).  We also give regular financial support to Harland House in Fiji and Neighbourhood in Ipswich.  We remain in regular communication with the other organisations listed below, however our support is less regular.  The Kruger Mission team meets monthly to pray for, encourage and financially support these ministries and are always open to having more people involved in this group.

Kachin Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)

The Kachin people group in Northern Myanmar have become the key focus for us to support as a church. There is so much need in this region and it is our intention to strengthen links with the main aid organization in that area, the Kachin Baptist Convention (KBC), so that together we can bring a better future both spiritually and physically to the Kachin people. Our main focus is with the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP’s) that have come from the war in that region. The 17 year old cease fire between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the Myanmar Army was broken on 9 June 2011. Since then it is estimated that over 100,000 men, women and children have fled their villages in search of safety. The KBC are one of the leading groups who have helped settle people in IDP camps throughout Kachin State and Shan State in the north of Myanmar.

We are committed to supporting our displaced brothers and sisters in seven IDP camps in northern Shan State. Money provided by Kruger has been used to provide food supplements and school materials to the children in these camps and we will continue to provide support where it is most needed into the future.

Harland Hostels for Deaf Children, Fiji

For children living in the remote islands of Fiji with a hearing impairment, education is often not an option. Harland house provides accommodation for children with hearing impairments so that they can attend school.

Neighbourhood – Ipswich

Neighbourhood (NBHD) is about bringing together people from all walks of life and providing a community that encourages flourishment. The NBHD centre is a truly unique approach to reducing youth detention rates and recidivism.

Down to Earth – Ipswich

Down to Earth provides healthy, nourishing meals for those experiencing homelessness or those who are vulnerable within communities across Ipswich. At Kruger we have a team of volunteers who cook and serve meals twice a week and we always need more helpers. All ingredients and recipes are provided, cooking is carried out in the church kitchen from 2-4pm Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We serve the meals from 4-6pm on Tuesdays at Browns Park, Nth Ipswich and Wednesdays at Queens Park, Ipswich.

Juvenile Detention

We have a fantastic partnership with Brisbane Youth Detention Centre and West Moreton Detention Centre. We have a small team that go in weekly to build positive relationships with the staff and young people. We have the privilege of running a program called Honest to Who which looks at the way God offers hope and a better way of life for young people. On a semi regular basis we take the coffee cart in and offer free coffee for the staff. We also partner with Neighbourhood who are focused on a local transition process for young people when they are released from youth detention.
